Annual Girls Weekend 2015Our 14th annual MLk (do you get the pic on left??) Girl’s trip was this past weekend! Destination this year was Folly Beach…near Charleston, SC. We are 4 absent-minded (I say absent-minded because we somehow managed to lose the condo key within the first 5 minutes of entering the rental… and never did find it) women and a long haired Chihuahua named Chula… Chula is a new addition to the group…one of us has become that pet owner that thinks their dog is not included when the sign says nLisa Acciai - original painting of Chula goes to the cityo dogs allowed (:. In all honesty we ALL love that little dog. As a matter of fact Chula is one of the first few dog portraits I painted (Chula goes to the city).

It was this annual trip last year that brought me back to painting after we went to one of those paint and drink classes – how can you go wrong with wine, paint, and great music. Alas, no painting class this year… but a lot of laughs…the Charleston Comedy Festival was going on so we went to see NYC comedians Lenny Marcus and Carmen Lynch they did not disappoint us for laughs (check them out on Letterman)! We took long walks on the beach…I love the calm of a deserted beach in the winter. And of course, as always, ate great food! I highly recommend Blossoms in downtown Charleston – great meal and nice atmosphere! I’m not including myself here, but we also have some awesome cooks in our group who can make a gourmet meal out of some kale and grilled cheese sandwiches!

Here are some photos from our trip that I’m hoping will inspire some new paintings. What do you think?

Sea Gull Folly Beach SC

So simple but I love the reflection of the bird.

Chula goes to the beach

Maybe a painting of Chula goes to the Beach!

Starfish Folly beach

Lots of starfish washed up on the beach.

Folly Beach, SC

We thought this was a cool tree on the beach. Chula did not!

Sunset Folly Beach, SC

You can’t leave the beach without a sunset pic!
