When I was a kid and then in college, I sketched all the time and I loved it – but at some point, life got in the way – marriage, kids, jobs – whatever – and I hadn’t picked up a pencil to just sketch in quite a long time. I was recently reading Crystal Moody’s blog “A year of Creative Habits” and was completely inspired by her. Below is a short bio about her:

Crystal Moody is a former art and math teacher who now homeschools her kids. In December of 2013, she was inspired by her 4 year-old daughter’s huge pile of artwork. She challenged herself to build her own creative habits by doing one little thing each day. In 2014 she made a drawing every day, often photographing it with her breakfast. In 2015, she is painting each day. You can follow her journey or even join her year of creative habits at crystalmoody.com.

So, with this inspiration I decided to give it a go, pick up my pencils and sketchbook and create a daily sketch. I have to admit I have missed a few days but the more I keep it up the more I’m enjoying it! Since I have been sketching for about a month now and have only posted these on Instagram, I’m going to post several sketches on one blog page and then try to keep this up with a daily sketch posting. Go check out her blog and maybe you will be inspired to join her too!
